Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

1. Agreement

By accessing or using ShipLog (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. What ShipLog does

ShipLog is a software-as-a-service tool that connects to GitHub repositories via webhook, reads commit messages from pushes you authorize, and uses AI to generate human-readable changelog drafts for your review and publication. All drafts require your explicit approval before publishing.

3. Accounts and eligibility

  • You must have a valid GitHub account to use ShipLog.
  • You must be at least 18 years old or have the legal capacity to enter into contracts in your jurisdiction.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.

4. Free trial and billing

  • New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with full Pro access. No credit card is required during the trial.
  • After the trial, continued use requires a paid plan. Plans are billed annually.
  • All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing at annual renewal. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price changes.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to generate content that is illegal, abusive, or violates any third-party rights.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service's infrastructure.
  • Share or resell access to the Service without authorization.
  • Use the Service in a way that violates GitHub's terms of service.
  • Connect repositories you do not own or do not have authorization to connect.

6. Your content

You retain all rights to your commit messages, code, and published changelogs. By using the Service, you grant ShipLog a limited license to process your commit messages solely to generate changelog drafts on your behalf. We do not claim ownership of any content you create through the Service.

7. AI-generated content

ShipLog uses AI to generate changelog drafts. These drafts are suggestions only — you review and approve every entry before it is published. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI-generated drafts for any purpose. You are solely responsible for reviewing and approving content before it is published.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHIPLOG AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

You may cancel your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease and your data will be deleted within 30 days.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
